Black people aren't meant to have thin noses, I know we all get weaves, wear make up, and fake nails, but it's not permanent if you make a mistake you can take it off or wash it off. When most black people get nose jobs it ends up worse than what they thought was the problem.
On another note, if you do decide to go that route make sure it's for you and no one else. If that would help you hold your head higher and love yourself more then I guess you should do it, but don't do it because someone else has a problem with your nose or you'll find yourself getting cut everytime someone hurts you. You obviously don't like your nose that's fine, but make sure you have atleast 10 things to like about yourself.
I agree with the second half of the comment however I feel the first half is very stereotypical. The Black race is more diverse than we know. People in Cameroon don't look the same as in Sudan and people in Madagascar don't look the same as people in Angola. People in Ethiopia don't look like others in Benin or Ghana. Our history books don't show us that though instead we see Africa like it's one big COUNTRY were every person is bantu and looks the same! And that is not true at all! The sad part is most Americans, black Americans can't even locate half of the places I just named on the map. THERE ARE Black and brown skinned, kinky hair, black people with high cheek bones, thin noses, thinner lips even. There are Bantu Africans who don't even have the same kind of kink as one another. There are people with slanted almond shaped eyes like asians and dark blue eyes even darker than whites. Why is it that every Feature that is not big and wide, not African? Such a stereotype! But it's our own fault. We don't even take enough interest in our own roots half of the time. Have you realized that there are many thin women in African countries too? (And it's not from starvation, that's another stereotype). Yes there are places in Africa and latin America where bigger women are more cherished but that is something more upplayed in the U.S. that is starting to be an excuse for not taking care of youself.
Look at naomi cambelle and Iman(pure Somalian, African). Do their features look the same as what you would call black features? If Iman were american one might be tempted to say she got a thin nose from her white plantation owning ancestor or that her hair looked nice was because of that Indian in her or that her skin was so smooth and beautiful because she was mixed with something else. Please people. There ain't a mixed bone in her body and her look is very unique to the people of Somalia. To be so beautiful can you believe she used to think she was ugly? Not because of western influence but because the women of her own culture possessed so much beauty!
Another thing I might add is that yes weaves, make up, and fake nails are nonpermanant (you forgot to add colored contacts and hair dye and texturizers, silkeners, weightloss, piercings, relaxers, etc.).
When you wear all black because it makes you look slimmer, is it going to last as long as if you lost the weight? No. But, you will be happier and more secure if you just got into shape. Same with rhinoplasty. Maybe some one doesn't want to put on make up every day do cover up or draw attention away from a nose that was a little on the wider side then they might do this because it will approve their appearance. Not because they are trying to look whiter, or less black, or because they have self hate! Maybe the black patient isn't trying to fix their nose like their Jewish and Mediterranian counterparts. Maybe they just want something that is flattering on their face according to their personal stanards. So the thought of a black nose as a problem that is just going to get worse is upsurd.
Also you would be suprised by the number of black nose jobs done in the U.S. and abroad. Most people who get them don't say anything because the don't want to get put down all the time about it. Like the Jacksons; they made plastic sugery seem as though it is a disgraceful sin just for black people. I don't blame people who don't disclose that they have had anything done. But, you would never know that they had anything done because they found a good surgeon and they didn't do anything drastic and they only had one surgery! Did you know that Toni Braxton had a nose job? Compare pictures of her frome before her first Album to right before she started performing at the Flamingo in Vegas. I don't mean to bust her out on the net or anything (there were already other blogs talking about it) but I always thought homegirl was gorgeous but, she didn't make a mistake with the sugery. Did you also know Patti Labelle had a nose job and is open about it? What about Amerie or Mariah Carey? Kimora Lee Simmons Definitly had a nose job! if you don't believe me, check Gossiprocks.com. And out of the few black celebrities I named, out there I have left out thousands of blacks and nonblacks alike!
Have good day
Allie you get a standing ovation! I am getting rhinoplasty in one week and no I do not hate my blackness, I love myself and think I'm gorgeous- I just am looking for a little more refinement in my nose. I am so happy to hear the other side of this seemingly never ending debate. I always wondered why black people were supposed to apologize for wanting to improve themselves with the same surgeries that are so commonplace to everyone else. Its foolish and shame only keeps us down. The ONLY reason I am not telling anyone about my nose job is because its my damn business and why should everyone know I wasn't born this way. I tell women all the time- if you can afford to fix something that bothers you, do it with pride honey. If you find the right surgeon you will be all the better for it and be able to let your light shine that much brighter in this world.
You would think that in a world full of relaxers, fake hair, fake nails, make up kits, and slim fast bars people would be more open minded. Everyone wants to think to a plastic surgery horror story to say DON"T DO IT. when people of color have been getting them with success for years without people knowing. I do believe that alot of the nose jobs from this particular site are freakish looking. But the doctor isn't the best and most of the patients haven't healed all of the way. I am happy for you because you researched a good PS and your not bowing down to other peoples criticisms (no offense everyones entitled to their own opinions). In life you have to do what makes you happy cuz you don't want to be 40 years down the road saying I wish I woulda...Good luck!

Shhhhhhhh.....Do you hear that? It sounded like hair popping from relaxers and presses.
Judging from the number of women on this board who don't show their natural hair texture or color everyday I guess we all need a self-esteem class.

By the way I'm just being playing girl, don't mind me
But don't be surprised if you get labeled a hater for saying her royal highness had a nose job. Tis the way it is around these parts.
