would you sew the hair onto the braid according to the design( on the braid itself) or would you just sew across the braids. The reason i ask is because the braids on the sides are kind of in a circular pattern.

ladies I am getting my first install next month using Ih and had a question. The style that I am going for is this one:
and the back like this:
I want swoop bangs over my left eye. My question is should the front be braided going around the head, say two or three braids, on each side and meet up with the rest of the hair to be braied in a french braid in the center going down? Much like jada ferie's picture where all of her braids meet in the center for the french braid. Or should the braids be criss crossing each other and braided that way?
thanks in advance ladies,
growingitlong
ladies please let me know if I am not making any sense at all.

Ok, I'm going to try this next week. I wonder if this is the pattern used to acheive being able to wear a high ponytail. Amandita has some great pics in her fotki of installs and high ponytails. I want to be able to achieve the versatility of this.

This is the pattern I use most and I find it turns out the flattest weave. So I do agree with this pattern, it works for me.
Is there anyone else who has a better pattern for flat weaves? I'm always open for new ideas.

Thats the best Pattern I have used, but its time costly because the braids should be very small.

I've done this method before. Granted it has been years but I intend to do it tonight. i'll let you know how it turns out.
Braiding the hair in the stratight back pattern is reccomended for the flattest application if you have natural hair.

I want to do a full weave on myself with no hair left out and without using a closure.
I'm using Italian deep wave and wanted to know if circular pattern would work or would it make my hair really big?

Miss Luxurious,
The pattern you described to Lynn is the technique that my hairdresser uses on me. That to me, is the best technique.
I have gone to other hairdressers where they cornrow the hair all the way back, tuck the ends underneath at the nape of the neck and they sew the weave horizontally. Yuck.

Hi Lynn,
I actually don't like the circular pattern, or the snake.
Usually I have the braids done horizontally (from outside left to middle, the outside right to middle).
The braids that meet in the middle are french braided down the middle, and the ends are sewn up.
Like the diagram above, a horseshoe is formed at the top as well.
The only problem is that I have a hump down the middle where the french braid is because my hair is longer. It isn't too big, but the only reason I can get away with it is because I wear curly/wavy hair, but straight is a problem.
I thought this would be better because I heard that the vertical braids give the flatest look, but the horizontal makes it fall more natural. This would eliminate the hump, producing a flatter feel and look, but still keep the horseshoe pattern at the top so that it falls naturally.
Do you think it would work?
