I clarify every time I wash, which is every other week, with a shampoo that contains sulfates. I just have to clarify... If I don't, my hair doesn't feel clean enough and I use cones, which I remove when  clarify so that they don't build up on my hair and create problems. I think those are the only things that I do/use that could be seen as "taboo" lol It seems like anything is fair game when it comes to hair because so many different things work for different people. Like I used to use hair grease and it never caused any problems for my hair, I just stopped using it because I hated feeling greasy or feeling it on my hands after I would touch my hair... so glad those days are long gone!!! LOL

I used to be the one who wears real rubberbands in my hair back in the day. They can cause some serious damage because bits of hair can get on them when you take them out. Then I used grease to oil my scalp. I hate the feel of it and it's not a good thing to do. Baaaaaaaad!Thumbs%20Down

I clarify 2-3x a month as well although I wash more but that's beside the point.  Every since I started clarifying more my hair responds better.

ummm lemme see...i use hard brushes, even on wet hair (cause i need my hair to look slick lol). and sometimes i sleep without a scarf. i also did lots of protective styles the first time i grew my hair out...but i'm not beat for ponytails and updos this time around!

The same is true for me! If I don't clarify then there's still build up on my hair so my DCs aren't as effective as they are on clean hair.
Oh I forgot I also manipulate my hair (wrapping, brushing ect.) and wear it down every day... I suppose I'm the opposite of a hardcore protective styler, I only wear my hair up once in a blue moon.
